World Cup 2018 fever is hotting up and it is now just 24 days until the big kick-off in Russia.
Today Spain announced their World Cup squad and, from a Premier League perspective David de Gea, Cesar Azpilicueta, Nacho Monreal and David Silva all make it to the plane to Russia.
France coach Didier Deschamps has taken five players from the Premier League, including Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy, Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante, Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba and Chelsea’s Olivier Giroud, but has named Anthony Martial and Alexandre Lacazette on the standby list.
Meanwhile, from a home point of view, England are taking a youthful squad to Russia this summer.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Trent Alexander-Arnold have been rewarded for their impressive showings for Crystal Palace and Liverpool respectively and have been included on the plane to Russia.
However, goalkeeper Joe Hart and midfielder Jack Wilshere have not been included, whilst Adam Lallana is on the standby list.
Germany head coach, Joachim Loew has named his provisional squad for the World Cup 2018 and he has left out 2014 winners Shkodran Mustafi and Mario Goetze but Marco Reus and Mesut Ozil have been included.
World Cup favourites Brazil have a strong Premier League presence in the squad, with Ederson, Danilo, Fernandinho and Gabriel Jesus making the cut, while Chelsea’s Willian and Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino also get the nod.
