Salah ripped his former club apart last night as the Reds raced into a 5-0 lead.
But after he was subbed off and replaced by Danny Ings with 15 minutes to go, Roma fought their way back into the tie with two late goals.
The 5-2 victory has offered a glimmer of hope to the Serie A side, who overturned a similar scoreline to beat Barcelona in the previous round.
When debating whether Salah coming off handed the initiative to Roma, Fowler revealed why Jurgen Klopp had made the change.
“I think he’s brought him off just to give Danny Ings a run”

He said on Radio 5 Live: “Obviously the game was won.
“Liverpool were dominant, they were creating chances.
“He just thought maybe let’s get Danny Ings on and he can get a little bit of confidence.

“Get into the game, and get into his season. I think that’s what it was.
“Obviously Salah has run himself into the ground. He’s put a shift in.
“If I’m a centre-forward, I want to stay on. The last 10 to 15 minutes of games is where defences get tired.
