Everton are considering a move for Patrick Vieira as the club wants to replace Sam Allardyce this summer, according to Metro.
The Toffees appointed the former England boss when they were struggling in the lower reaches of the Premier League table and threatened by relegation.
Allardyce has stabilised Everton and led them to the top half of the table, but the supporters have not been enamoured by the bland brand of football he has brought to the club.
While there have been a host of new names linked with the Goodison Park hotseat, Vieira is the latest manager to be touted as the next head coach.
The former Arsenal midfielder has been making a name for himself at MLS side New York City and has been touted as a target for a number of European sides.
Regardless of Vieira’s pedigree as a player, opting for a manager with no experience at the top level would surely be a mistake for Everton.
The Toffees fans will want the new man to play attractive football but this must be backed up by results also, and as such Vieira represents a risk.
Although a change is needed at Everton this summer, a more tried-and-tested manager is needed spark progression in both results and performances.
